REVIEW: Chick-fil-A’s Autumn Spice Milkshake & Vegetarian Options

Scroll down to content

I saw a post about a new limited edition drink show up while scrolling on Instagram so you know I had to try it. Since this is also my first time ever trying Chick-fil-A, I decided to try some other items on the menu that were vegetarian to provide a more thorough review. Since the drink is a limited time option and was just introduced starting today, I will start with that prior to providing my thoughts on the other things I ate and drink from here. Prior to scrolling down, I just want to say if you are looking for more reviews of vegetarian food or speciality drinks check out the prior food blog posts as well as exclusive content I share on my social media (Tiktok, Instagram, and Facebook). See below for a visual teaser/how it looks in video below!

Location

Chick-fIl-A is a known franchise which is more popular and present in the United States, however there are a couple of locations in Canada, specifically in Ontario. I actually went to the location (that is fairly new) located at Scarborough Town Centre! I was preparing myself for the disappointment if they didn’t carry the shake at the location but thankfully it did. The staff were working nice and efficient as they do provide good service while making sure everyone’s orders are properly handled. Please note this location is busy but does move pretty fast.

Price

Before I get into the taste, I do want to talk about the pricing. It is a bit on the pricier side but not terribly overpriced and frankly, for the items I got I think the pricing was decent. I also think that the for the amount you get, it is justified and I will provide more details about the taste of each item I tried in the next section but in total I did order 6 things and it came up to $20.40 CAD after tax. The medium shake was $5.29 (priciest out of what I got), the large waffle fries were $3.99, the waffle chips were $3.49, the medium sunjoy was $3.29, while the chocolate chip cookie was $1.99 and chick-fil-a sauce was free.

Taste

Autumn Spice Milkshake

I am not sure if people were genuinely not aware or interested in the milkshake but the girl working at the register said that I was first person or the day to order the shake at 4:40pm at her register. Nonetheless, I would say this is definitely worth the try as the shake tasted really good especially because of that cinnamon flavour to give that fall feel (maybe even Christmas?) combined with the crunch at the bottom (bits of brown sugar spice cookies) provides such a great taste. The whip cream and cherry are nice touches on top, and personally I like the shake consistency (it includes the Chick-fil-A’s Icedream as well) as it is not too thick but with the paper straw it may be a bit hard to consume. Fun Fact: according to Chick-fil-A’s website the shake was initially only available in Salt Lake City last year as a test which is why they are releasing this across all stores.

Sunjoy

Apparently before 2021 Chick-fil-A’s sunjoy was a popular off-menu / secret menu item that is now officially listed on the menu to make it easier to order. The drink combines the the sweetened iced tea and the brand’s classic lemonade, which combined gives a nice summer orange colour. The drink is not bad either because you taste sweet tea first and then the lemonade but I would say it is more sour than sweet, so you may or may not like it depending on your personal preference.

Waffle Fries

Of course, I had to grab an iconic menu item such as their waffle fries! The waffle fries are warm and well salted with a crispy exterior and (a bit) soft interior, I can see why people can be addicted to these. These are something I can also see myself getting again.

Waffle Chips

By getting the fries, I might as well take it one step further and get the bag of chips. I enjoyed the chips as well and maybe I will get it as a gift for someone who absolutely loves Chick-fil-A or something. It’s not bad at all but for the price and expiry being a month away I was happy to try it at least once. The potato chips are good, well seasoned, and reminds me of ruffles in terms of texture and similarity of shape.

Chick-fil-A Sauce

I also got a free Chick-fil-A Sauce, and in my opinion the sauce tastes similar to thousand islands (minus the relish) with an emphasis on mustard. Frankly I prefer dipping the chips into the sauce compared to the fries, but that is just me.

Chocolate Chip Cookie

Last but not least, I got the chocolate chip cookie and I tried when I was home and it still was so warm, gooey, and chewy! I love how soft it was and the amount of chocolate was inside. Therefore, if you don’t have a sweet tooth you may think it is really sweet.

Overall

All in all, I really did enjoy the different items I tried today for my first time at Chick-fil-A, especially the Autumn Milkshake! I am clearly not someone who goes here often but I will say that these items are not bad and this milkshake is one of the best festive milkshakes I have ever had. With them being more open to adding new items to the menu, I do hope they will be more open to certain beliefs to make sure everyone feels comfortable enjoying the food, because these drinks and vegetarian options are pretty good!
