Disneyland Holiday Food Review

Hey everyone, since it’s Christmas Eve I wanted to share my review of some special holiday food and treats (along with some other food) I ate last week at Disneyland California Adventure. There is still time left during this holiday season to grab some of these options that might be available next holiday season! I also have some tips so make sure to read those before you go and try any of these! Stay tuned for some updated content on other new things I tried in comparison to my visit in 2021 for food and rides before you read below, make sure to follow the blog and on social media (Tiktok, Instagram, and Facebook) for the review of Disneyland California itself, more LA Content, and food reviews! See below for a preview of what to expect below!

Christmas Treats: Minnie Mouse Cereal Treat & Mickey Mouse Gingerbread Cookie

This year, I was adamant about trying as much Christmas and festive food as possible this time. Therefore the very first thing we did was get a snack we could enjoy as we walked our way to prepare for the lineup for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. We ended up getting two treats, the Minnie Mouse Cereal Treat & Mickey Mouse Gingerbread Cookie. As you can see in the collage above, there were several options but we decided on these two. You could also see that these were not cheap but I am not regretting any of these purchases as they were both tasty and enjoyable. I preferred the Minnie Mouse Cereal Treat as you get the comforting taste of rice krispies elevated with a beautifully designed chocolate and Christmas-themed Minnie Mouse head silhouette. The chocolate was great and the M&M’s were a great touch, perfect for the sweet tooth lovers. My sister was a big fan of the Mickie Mouse gingerbread cookie. I thought it was good too but personally, I preferred the Minnie treat more. The gingerbread cookie was good, with a strong ginger flavor (as expected for a gingerbread cookie) with the texture in the middle a little hard but the exterior soft. I also really liked the decorations.

Mint Chip Churro & Mint Dipping Sauce

Another exclusive Christmas treat I got was the mint chocolate churros with the mint dip. TIP: These were not widely available across both parks, I only saw these available at a churro cart right beside the Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland Park. These might be my favorite holiday treat but warning, it’s really good but it can get messy and your teeth will turn green. I loved it because the churro was so warm and had so much flavor that I don’t usually expect from a churro, and yes, this was better than the Doraemon churro. I loved how the churro is made with chocolate and then rolled in mint dust. The dip itself is super minty but also tasty and I don’t think you need both (they are sold separately anyway but I believe both came up to $7.75 USD)

Alien Planet Santa Macaron (with Sesame Ginger Veg Noodles and Kids-size Cheese Pizza)

Of course, I had to eat some actual food besides just sweets so for lunch we went over Alient Planet for the first time. I really liked the system to order and the food came out fairly quickly. My sister split the sesame-ginger vegetable noodles ($12.99 USD) and the kid-size cheese pizza ($7.49 USD). The veg noodles were not bad at all but in my opinion, a little basic, especially for the price as it tasted like regular teriyaki stirfry noodles. I actually liked the cheese pizza a bit more because yes, it was also a little basic but I think it felt a bit more hearty and it was shocking to me how much more comes with a kid’s menu item (carrots, a mandarin, and choice of either milk or a Dasani water bottle). TIP: Just ask when you get to the counter if you can order the kids’ item, I suggest ordering in-person instead of the app because sometimes ordering ahead doesn’t work (especially if you’re visiting from outside the US) and I saw people who ordered before us via the app get their food after us. It was also nice to see that the fountain cup for the drink and the plate was Disney100 which sadly, was one of the very few Disney100 things we saw. TIP: If you are after any Disney100 collectible items at any restaurant, get them in the morning before they sell out later in the day and ask the guest services to locate where else they might still be in stock.

Nonetheless, one of the main reasons why we went here is because I wanted to get the Santa Alien Macaron for $7.99 USD. The macaron has a great texture and collapses easily so make sure that the first bite is great and that you take a picture first. I loved the chocolate ganache in the center as it compliments the macaron with the silky smooth feel compared to the crunchy macaron exterior. Also, I think this dessert is simple but looks incredible!

Disney Festival of Holidays Food: Impossible Chicken Curry Bites & Southern Mac & Cheese

Something I mentioned last time is that when you visit Pixar Pier you will see some very special menu items that are available at specific food carts/trucks. This is in celebration of the Disney Festival of Holidays where there are special food, drinks, and performances throughout the pier. As I stated in my initial Disneyland food review, the Southern Mac and Cheese are really good and up there for my favorite Disneyland food item. This is essentially the same but just a tip: when you see this in person, the original will have a sausage but you can ask the staff to make it vegetarian by removing the sausage and they were happy to do it! Loved the crunch and seasoning on top, yes the price (I think $8 USD) is a bit overpriced but trust me, they did not miss with this mac and cheese!

The other holiday festival item I tried was the Impossible Chicken Curry Bites. It’s essentially the impossible nuggets with a special chutney and lemon sauce. You don’t taste any curry flavor because the chutney is powerful but frankly, I like it. I know my sister wasn’t a big fan but I thought it had a nice distinct taste as the coriander pops out I will say that there may be more clashing with the lemon raita instead of complimenting. I personally liked this one which was also $8 USD I think, but I know this won’t be a favourite for a lot of people.

Year-round Disney Food Items

As mentioned earlier, not everything I ate was festive but some of the things I consumed can be purchased year-round and some of these were items I have always wanted to try but never got to the first time. Starting off with the DOLE whip swirl float, it is really good as it melts in your mouth (and frankly all over the place). There is a little added sweetness but you can still enjoy the different flavors you choose, since it comes with pineapple juice I decided to choose mango and strawberry as my flavors for the swirl. The float is layered but it does spill fairly quickly and it’s a lot so make sure you have numerous napkins. I think this is a great treat because love the DOLE flavors, and reminded me of something similar I got at the DOLE plantation in Hawaii, but I wasn’t a big fan of how easily it melted and how you have to be really quick to drink it.

Another drink I got was the Blue Milk Tenoo Swirl Crunchies Cereal which I believe was introduced earlier this year. I initially went for the blue milk when at Galaxy’s Edge but I saw a special poster for this and had to try it! I remember a grown man well into his 60s who saw my drink and immediately giggled out of excitement. This drink was $9.29 USD but definitely worth it! The popular blue milk which is a smooth coconut milk with blue colouring is elevated with a raspberry sauce around the cup and topped with nerds. So yes, it’s really sweet but I didn’t think it was overwhelming but instead a nice little pick me up.

Lastly, as a big fan of Marvel and the Avengers, I remember how iconic the end credit scene was when the Avengers were eating shwarma so when at the Avengers campus and near the end of the night, I decided to grab the plant-based option. It wasn’t bad as I liked the wrap but if I am being honest, it didn’t really have anything memorable in terms of flavor or texture. The dip it comes with is nice, but there are only a few times you can dunk it in without falling apart. So I suggest just opening up the wrap spreading the sauce inside and closing it back. It still tasted decent, especially the protein and if I needed to eat something at Avengers Campus I would choose this over the Pym’s Kitchen Impossible meatball.

Overall

All in all, I actually liked the food I got this time around compared to last time and I can see myself getting a few of these again. I did wish there was more stuff available, even in the gift shop for Disney100 but it was very minimal and lowkey, almost like an afterthought. I also will say that this experience was the best food experience I had for a theme park eating vegetarian options. Let me know in the comments below or on social by also following on FacebookInstagram, and TikTok if you tried or will try any of these items!
