Thank you for checking out this post and site, before I continue on with this post, I do want to mention that there will be a lot more content related to Shazam! that will be featured on this blog and the YouTube channel so definitely stay tuned! Starting the series of posts is another special post combining two categories, #TheFitBreakDown from the advanced screening of Shazam! and a recap of the Shazam Fan Experience!
The Shazam! Fan Experience
A Look Inside
I was fortunate enough to go to the second day of the Fan Experience in Toronto. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to attend the first day where the main cast and director was there to unveil the activation and they even received a plaque from the Mayor of Toronto, John Tory. They received the plaque because they shot the film in Toronto, which provided several jobs and added more fuel to Hollywood North. Nonetheless, it was a last-minute decision due to time constraints but I am happy to have gone, see below for a short video recap.
Freebies & Giveaways
While waiting in line and/or after going through the magical subway cart to pose with wizard’s staff in front of the rock of eternity the individuals running the activation gave pins and posters. The poster was of nice quality, but I found more interest in the pins which you will see later, I incorporated in my outfit. It was also cool to know that the pins were holographic which is a nice touch since the image changes from the Shazam logo to Zachary Levi’s Shazam, just like in the movie.
All in all, I was happy with myself that I did decide to go down to check out this activation. It was fun and I had a great time checking it out. There were a lot of pros as well starting with the fact that it was free, you get a cool video/animation sent to you and you get free stuff while hyping you up for the movie to come out!
The Fit Break Down
The first piece to this outfit had to be this crewneck. I initially was eying a t-shirt with this design, but I was fortunate enough to be able to get this crewneck, especially before the activation date. Although he’s my favourite DC Comics superhero, I did not have any Shazam apparel because frankly, I was not satisfied with the options.
Fortunately, I came across this specific design and I knew I had to get it, because I loved how the design creatively shares an image of Shazam while simultaneously explaining the acronym of his name. For those who don’t know, SHAZAM stands for the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas (including his invulnerability), the power of Zeus (including summoning thunderbolts), the courage of Achilles, the speed of Mercury (including flight). Thankfully Zazzle still had this design in this specific colour and product option., because the crewneck and colour adds to the vintage vibe.
Place of Purchase: Zazzle.ca (If you want to purchase this exact crewneck then click the Zazzle hyperlink to be redirected, make sure you change the style and colours)
Price: Approximately $38 CAD + $10 Shipping (Although it may seem like a lot, it was at a discount) Make sure you input your email for newsletter subscription so you can recieve 20% off your first order!
I had this pair of socks deadstock for a while now and was waiting for the perfect time to break’em out. I loved the design and I knew I had to own a pair of Shazam socks.
Place of Purchase: Superherostuff.com (although it’s sold out there are other selections available).
Price: FREE! Yes, they were free because they were having a promotion at the time where you can grab a free pair of socks with your order. Fortunately, they still had this specific pair in stock. I use this site often, and it’s my go-to for a lot of superhero gear!
This is the item in the fit break down I wish I ordered before. Reason being is that if I ordered it before I would’ve had it ready to be worn to the Shazam activation. As you can tell, the colorways are the same of Shazam and the youthful vibrancy in terms of color and all around graphics really coincide with Billy Batson’s Shazam. I really didn’t want to fall into the temptation of buying more sneakers this year but because of my online course and this Shazam experience, I knew I had to cop! Fortunately, I go to wear these bad boys out for the advanced screening of Shazam! Be on the lookout for an unboxing and concept video of these Tracy McGrady (T-Mac)’s hybrid shoe on the blog and YouTube channel!
Place of Purchase: Adidas Canada but also check at your local Footlocker as well
Price: $220 CAD (However, maybe wait it out a bit to see if they reduce the prices in-store or online)
The icing on the cake for this fit had to be incorporating a freebie from the fan experience activation into my outfit for the advanced screening. As I mentioned earlier, I was really interested in the free pins they gave me and I wanted to somehow wear that. Thankfully, the weather was great on Saturday I was able to break out my jean jacket to easily rock the pins on. I also incorporated other pins on the chest as well including the pins I got from Toronto ComicCon (this year and last).
Place of Purchase: Shazam (Shazam Fan Experience Toronto), Wonder Woman (Either Toronto ComicCon 2018 or Fan Expo Canada 2018), Arrow – TV Series & Aquaman (Toronto ComicCon 2019)
Price: Shazam (FREE), Wonder Woman (2 For $15), Arrow – TV Series ($6.95), Aquaman ($7.95)
Honestly, I do really like this denim jacket a lot and can use it for multiple seasons. I love the weight and distressing on it, it features the perfect balance.
Place of Purchase: Bluenotes (in-store)
Price: I believe $40 CAD.
Lastly, I needed a clean pair of jeans or pants that contrasted from the upper but at the same time allowed the colour on my crewneck and shoes to really pop. These Buffalo David Bitton Jeans did just that.
Place of Purchase: Jean Machine
Price: 2 for $70
