A couple of weeks ago when checking on the Kit Kat Chocolatory (check out the review here if you haven’t done so), I had some time to kill when I was waiting to pick up my customized chocolate bar.

During that time, I decided to check out a spot I heard about and see if it was worth the hype. Well, that place is the popular vegan spot called Parka Food Co. and you can check out what I think and what to expect below.

Location: 424 Queen Street West, Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Taste

Parka scores big on this because they’ve managed a way to make (commonly) unfavourable vegetables into delicious entrees that also make you confused if you should feel guilt or not.

The Broccoli Burger – Trust me, it tastes great! $11.00 (but it was special that day and got it for 25% off)

The Broccoli Burger is by far the best thing I ate that day. It was a good balance of texture and taste. The only thing is that it can get a little messy and as you can see it barely maintains within the bun.

The other items I tried were the Cauliflower Fritters and the Truffle Mushroom Mac. These items were still good, and trust me making cauliflower tasty is not easy. The dip helps as well it provides more taste to the crispy edges. The mac’n’cheese I ordered was also good but something to keep in mind is that the truffle taste alone overtakes all the other elements which is why it is a more distinct taste. In other words, even though it is a popular item it might not be for everyone.

Price

Left: Cauliflower Fritters – $6.00 (staple item) Right: Truffle Mushroom Mac – $7.60 (popular item)

The price is not high at all but still fits with the prices you will find in this area – Queen Street West. The cheapest item on the menu is $3.00 (house made soda) and the highest is $15.00 (Mac Pack – sampler of all three Mac’n’Cheese available).

The prices are fair for the portion and quality of food. The combos are priced around $12.00-$13.00 while the burgers alone are priced from $9.00 to $11.50. If you wanted something light like fries or Mac’n’Cheese expect to pay around $3.50 to $9.50 (depending on what you order).

Service

The service was good. The staff were friendly and if you’re eating there the staff will bring the food to you. Just being friendly and ensuring that there’s no long delay goes a long way.

Venue

The venue was nice and minimalist. The lights on top and the spacing allows quite a few people to have a seat. Also, with the street being as busy it is you might want to grab food and have a seat to rest for a little bit.

As you can see below, the seats also have a nice centrepiece as well, which definitely coordinates with the plant based theme.

House Made Orange Soda – $3.00

Would I go Again?

Yes, absolutely! The pricing wasn’t too bad and the food was awesome. I also need to try more things from their menu.

Recommendations

No strong recommendations, I think the way they are operating is great. The only recommendation is for the customer eating there. Check out there website here.

If you are done with your food, don’t just leave your trays in a mess… just put it back, it’s not hard.

All in all, expect to see me post some other items on this menu on my Snap and Insta Story the next time I visit. Let me know if you end up going and what you ordered.
