Hey everyone! I know Shake Shack has had their first Canadian location open for a little while now, but they just introduced a new veggie burger so I had to try it! This is my second time at this location and I tried a few things all together, which I share my thoughts on in this blog post. Make sure to read below and follow me on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook as I post more Toronto food content! For a preview of what to expect, watch the video below! *UPDATE* I also reviewed their Mimi Collab which I included below as well*.
About and location

Earlier this year the beloved American fast-food chain, Shake Shack finally opened a location in Canada. Shake Shack was originally a hot dog cart inside Madison Square Park in 2001 but has since expanded exponentially. Canada has been on their list since 2017 when they first did their popup and it looks like they are planning on opening 34 more locations in Canada! The spot is massive and right at the heart of downtown Toronto (10 Dundas St E Level 1, Toronto, ON) which is easily accessible via public transit with parking options nearby. This Toronto location has two floors so there are several seating options with nice staff (the times I have visited). There is a line sometimes but I will say it moves fast both times i have gone. I have been to their locations in Los Angeles, New York, and New Jersey so it only made sense I check this out! They even commented saying Toronto was up next as you can see in the video below, so only made sense to pay them a visit!
Price

I will say the price is as high as other burger chains in the city. The Veggie Shack was $9.49, ‘Shroom Burger was $10.99, Maple Slated Pretzel Shake was $7.29, while the fries were $4.49 (one dollar for cheese) and the creamsicle float was $5.99 in Canadian dollars. Personally, although the veggie shack is $9.49 I would say that is very similar to prices for other plant-based burgers in the city. I think in terms of the best size price would be the creamsicle float!
Taste

The main reason why I am even doing this review is to let you know that I genuinely enjoyed eating the new Veggie Shack and will go back to order this again. Shake Shack burgers are known for their potato buns and ShackSauce which tasted great but this wasn’t the start of this burger. The actual plant-based burger is made of mushrooms, carrots, and quinoa which is grilled to perfection as it melts in your mouth while giving you a hearty feeling. The melted cheese also helps with this and the pickle gives a little tang. However, the crunchiness from the onions is the star of the show. I don’t mind the crispiness and cheesiness of the deep-fried portobello mushroom in the shroom burger as it still tastes good but it is nowhere near as good as this Veggie Shack! I also prefer going with the regular fries since I can appreciate the savoury flavour more than the cheesy one as it was a bit overwhelming (love the hot fries I had in LA). The Maple Pretzel Shake was nice to try once but I don’t see myself getting it again because of how sweet it was. However, the orange cremiscle is definitely my second favourite drink. Yes, it is sweet but the orange cream soda flavour just bursts which makes it so good yet so bad for you. Make sure to stir the drink to enjoy it more.
Overall

All in all, I am happy that I finally went to check Shake Shack’s Toronto location and especially try this burger which might be my new favourite vegetarian burger in Toronto. I would recommend you try the Veggie Shack (even my coworker who eats meat loves it), orange cremiscle float, and regular fries! I personally would recommend ShakeShack to bring in the breakfast options similar to how they have it in their Newark Airport. I initially was hoping to get invited and reached out to see if I could be one of the first to review the Canadian location but unfortunately, it might be because I need more followers so if you can, please make sure to follow on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook to help me get invited for future events so I can provide you more Toronto food reviews sooner!
