5. Sneakersnstuff x Converse One Star Low
I don’t know about you, but I am still upset at myself for sleeping in yesterday and missing out on the Off White X Chuck Taylor 70s. Nevertheless, the positive of missing out from the surprise release was that I was able to check out what other limited drops were still available. So for some, this might be your best compensation choice.
The One Star silhouette has definitely made a comeback as a popular choice, mainly due to Tyler the Creator’s recent collaborations. Nevertheless, it’s awesome to see a classic shoe reinterpreted in so many different ways.
Established Swedish retailer Sneakersnstuff (SNS) recently joined forces with Converse and released their take on the classic sneaker. Both options feature a camouflage pattern with clean colour-blocking. As seen above, one of the colourways is the classic forrest green, brown and black camo print. The other option is more unconventional as it features lavender, wolf grey, black and white which really gives me a more 90s vibe. There’s almost a full size run available directly at the Converse website.
4. Russell Westbrook’s Jordan “Why Not?” ZER0.1 “Do You”
Although the Oklahoma City Thunder are eliminated from the NBA Playoffs, Jordan Brand continues to release new colourways of Russell Westbrook’s signature shoe. This is probably going to be a sleeper hit but I truly believe this is a great marketing strategy and a creative approach.
We have seen custom kicks and cleats (sneakers and cleats drawn or painted on by different artists) take over the NBA and NFL this past season. In addition, Russell Westbrook is known for his loud, outspoken outfits. This sneaker is the perfect marriage of the two as it provides consumers to purchase Russ’ a clean all white shoe with two branded markers. The purpose of the markers is to draw or customize the sneakers just like the athletes do. It’s a good strategy by Nike and Jordan as they are able to provide a DIY experience at a reasonable cost. I personally own a pair and you should stay tuned for a detailed review (will update when post is up), but I would say in short that it fits snug and there’s a lot of traction on the sole so it might not be best for everyday use but definitely for on the court. All sizes are still available at Nike.Ca.
3. JW Anderson x Converse Thunderbolt Denim Low
Earlier I mentioned the benefit of missing out on the surprise drop was being able to discover incredible sneakers that are still available. This particular shoes is no different, and if I manage to find it in my size… don’t be shocked if this will be featured in a future #TheFitBreakDown post.
JW Anderson is a British fashion label founded by Jonathan Anderson. He’s built the brand to be reputable and has recently collaborated with Converse on several different models (as seen above). However, my favourite model from the collection is this thunderbolt silhouette with a denim upper. I am personally looking out for a clean denim sneaker and wish this was available in my size. The detail on the sneakers looks great and also comes with c A couple of sizes are available right here at Converse Canada.
2. Pharrell Williams’ Adidas Tennis Hu “Holi”
Kanye West has stated that he’s the highest paid person in sneakers, and that definitely has to be further researched. There is no doubt to his incredible influence, but there is somebody else that is very influential and also a big reason for why Adidas has risen in stock and brand value. That person is none other than artist, producer and designer, Pharrell Williams.
Like Mr.West, Pharrell has dropped different iterations of silhouettes with different price points. The most popular and expensive (resale and retail) has to be the NMD Hu (Human) . Nevertheless, with each release of the NMD Hus, it is often accompanied by a more affordable model called the Tennis Hu. This sneaker doesn’t feature boost technology but still features Pharrell’s branding and equality logo on the heel. The “Holi” pack which celebrated the Indian festival of colours was highly anticipated due to the three different NMD models, the clothing and tennis hu sneakers. Personally, my favourite of the whole pack has to be this sneaker and compared to other releases it seems like this is the fastest a Tennis Hu has sold out. Fortunately, there are a couple of sizes left at END Clothing so act fast!
1. Nike Air Max 1 Satin Pack
As you can tell by selection of sneakers I am very keen on the detail of a product and sold by a good execution of a solid concept. Nike has recently dropped a “Satin pack” for the beloved Air Max 1 silhouette. There are three different colourways: red/navy blue, black, and ice blue/navy blue.
Whichever colourway you select, these are definitely an eye-catcher due to the satin material placed on the upper. Speaking of detail, the pack also features a pinwheel made up of the Nike Swoosh placed on the heel. If I had to pick one, I would go with the red and navy blue colour scheme because the colour-blocking is well executed, which a lot of brands fail to do. You can pick up a pair in any of the three models from the pack right at Eastbay.
As always let me know if you decided to cop or not, and what your thoughts are on the kicks featured this week in the comments below!
