Before I share this week’s selection, I just wanted to say Rest In Peace to EDM DJ and musician, Avicii. Avicii was no stranger to the charts as his records made people dance, smile and have a good time. He died very young at the age of 28, and condolences to his loved ones and fans.

This particular post will feature more catch up tracks than most, but nevertheless awesome music!

Familiar  – Liam Payne & J Balvin

There is no denying that each member of One Direction has a different style when it comes to fashion and music. The music Liam Payne has put of more of a mixture of pop, dance and R&B. With this release he can add a bit of reggaeton to his catalog with the help of J. Balvin. Will you be bumping this?

KOD – J. Cole

I couldn’t do this post and not mention Cole’s latest project even though you might have seen it all over your Instagram and Snapchat feed. The album is not bad, a little different to his prior work but still has the solid bars and wordplay he is known for. I am listing the title track as the banger because I love the beat, wordplay, and his take on the latest trend in rap. Wait for the end to what he considers the most powerful drug.

Here is a snippet and you can listen on Apple Music here

2002 – Anne-Marie

It’s awesome to see more female artists coming out and having growing success. Anne-Marie is doing just that, and she will be releasing her debut album next week! However, prior to releasing her album she is adding another promotional single. The single 2002 is more than a upbeat song reminiscing about a love story, as it pays homage to classic early 2000s records. Can you identify the nostalgic songs she refers to?

Basement (feat. Jessie Reyez) – Russ

This is listed as a sleeper because I know some people still haven’t heard of Russ or given him a chance. I’ll admit I just started listening to him last year, but better late than never! This is more of a slow ballad and it features up and coming Canadian singer Jessie Reyez. I enjoyed the song but I enjoy the fact that these two collaborated as both their success stories are respectable and admirable.

Bottle Rocket (feat. Domo Genesis & Amber Ojeda) – Kovas

This track is solid and definitely a sleeper. If you haven’t watched the Netflix series “On My Block” (Just got picked up for season 2!) then you really won’t be familiar with this song. However, just like the show this song is so good! The soundtrack of season one was already good but this particular record was made for the show. I’m glad Netflix finally released it as this was played in the final scene of season one and looked everywhere for the full version.

Catch Up Tracks

*These are the tracks that I didn’t realize were out and just heard today*

Push Back (Feat. Bebe Rexha & Stefflon Don)

The “World of Dance” judge and GRAMMY award winning artist/song-writer is back with a record that has been stuck on replay today. This dance track will definitely get you excited for summer or should be at your house jams. The music video below is colourful and also assists in providing the island vibes.

Over My Head – Echosmith

Echosmith first broke out to the scene with their single “Cool Kids” and haven’t slowed down since. Over My Head is very different to cool kids, but still should be a hit with its catchy singalong chorus and production. Take a listen below and see what I am talking about!

I was initially going to post this as a sleeper because you might have not heard of this duo, but released this was also a month old as well. Their album from 2017, “INDXGO” is a good listen, and if I had to recommend tracks from there I would start with Need Somebody and Medicine. Their style is more of a mellow hip-hop/R&B style, and in this particular record the piano definitely compliments the tempo and lyrics. Take a listen below, you’ll enjoy!

Kundalini – B.o.B

B.o.B. is back with a new album entitled “The Upside Down” and my favourite track from the album is this one. The combination of good beats and distinctive vocals is what Bobby Ray is known for. Whether or not his music is getting mainstream attention, his music is still so good and this track definitely needs a listen!

Other Tracks to Listen

OTW – Khalid, 6LACK & Ty Dolla Sign, Cruzin’ (feat. St Rulez), CLOSE (feat. Travis Scott) – Rae Sremmurd and Somebody – The Chainsmokers & Drew Love
