Top 5 Fire Sneakers You Probably Didn’t Know Were Out/Still Available – Week of April 15, 2018

Scroll down to content

In my opinion, 2018 has been the best year for sneaker releases in some time. There’s been a lot of hyped releases and others that have flew under the radar. If you have seen the kicks I wear, some are hyped and some you may have never heard of or not the most popular choice. Therefore, I wanted to create a post that mentions my top five sneakers that are available and you may have not known were out. Even though I am trying to not buy sneakers for this month, you might so if you like what is mentioned click the hyperlink on the retailer or product’s name so you can easily go to see the detail and add to cart.

5. Nike The Kevin Durant “Ali” KD 10 / KDX

The tenth edition of Kevin Durant’s signature shoe with Nike has featured awesome styles and colours, with deeper meaning. There has been the teal green City Edition, Black History Month and of course, the Breast Cancer Awareness tribute to KD’s late aunt, the Aunt Pearl.

This particular colour scheme is predominately in a platinum grey/white colour but the beauty is in the details. This shoe is nicknamed Ali, and as you can see in the image above it pays tribute to the Legend Muhammad Ali . The left shoe has a butterfly on the back of the logo with a corresponding butterfly wing design on the swoosh while the right has a bee on the back of the logo and honeycomb design on its shoe respectively. You can purchase the shoe directly from Nike.

4. Nike Kobe AD “Devin Booker PE”

Despite the Phoenix Suns not making the playoffs, Devin Booker is an incredible talent (Reminder: he dropped 70 points last season). Although he is still young, he is a scorcher (deadlier than a scorer) and definitely has the Mamba Mentality.

Therefore, there is no surprise he will have a Kobe Bryant PE (Player Exclusive). Recently, both him and DeMar DeRozan of the Toronto Raptors had limited PE of the Kobe 1 Protro release at few Foot Locker locations. If you missed out on those, you can grab a pair of these Kobe AD PE easily from Eastbay or Foot Locker Canada. There is a lot of awesome details that you won’t find on other editions of this shoe (eg. Booker’s face on sock liner, the photo reel swoosh, the details on the upper, and more).

3. Vans X A Tribe Called Quest Pack

Whether or not you listen to the group, A Tribe Called Quest is a legendary hip-hop group that you should respect. They have made solid records and influenced many artists after them.

The announcement that this particular collaboration was in the works created buzz but I recall many sites having a lot of sizes sell out. This pack features different silhouettes and colourways that make the shoes hot on its own. You can purchase these shoes from BAIT as they have the most selection in regards to the different styles and sizes.

I personally love BAIT because of the collaborations they’ve done eg. Transformers x Diadora, Reebok x Bruce Lee, etc. This collaboration between ATCQ & Vans are mainly sold out at other retailers, but this isn’t the first time BAIT adds sold out models to their online domain as they did it with the Air Force 1 designed by Don C.

2. Adidas x UNDEFEATED Adizero Adios 3

Undefeated is a well known brand and have had successful sneaker collaborations in the past. This collaboration with Adidas is no different and also includes apparel. It is not common to see Undefeated branded sneakers still available for retail with a good selection of sizes.

However, Adidas Canada does have a good selection of footwear and apparel still available. Although the collection included Ultraboosts (which sold out), my favourite item was the Adizero Adios 3 in the desert camo colourway (both picture above are available) .

*Honourable Mentions*

Air Jordan 3 “Black Cement”

The Air Jordan 3 Black Cement is an OG Colourway and one of the most sought out sneakers of the year. A lot of people were interested and even Rich “Maze” Lopez from SoleCollector went into retirement of purchasing sneakers after copping eight pairs! This colourway is super clean and sold out almost everywhere. However, there is one more option left if you missed out… and it’s on sale!

If it is on sale and almost a FSR, you may be confused on why this was listed as an honourable mention. The reason is because the catch to it is that the option/retailer I am referring to is Foot Locker UK h This means that you need to know somebody that lives in the UK or the other European countries that they ship to so they can eventually ship it to you.

Reebok  – Answer 4 “Kobe PE”

As seen on the picture, click the link for more photos of the product. Image source:

It’s awesome to see that in the beginning of this article I talked about another player having a PE for Kobe’s signature shoe, but now I am talking about Kobe’s PE from another player’s signature shoe. Yes, at one point Kobe didn’t have his own signature line and at that time he was testing the sneaker free agency with wearing different silhouettes from different brands. One of the brands was Reebok, who had one of the biggest names at the time and NBA Hall of Famer, Allen Iverson.

AI had several popular models beyond “The Question”, and The Answer IV is definitely one of them. Reebok mentioned dropping more colourways of this silhouette but so far this happens to be the only one. I may wait a bit before copping, just to see if it will go on sale. However, if you want to rock now you can visit Reebok now.

1. Nike x Comme des Garçons – Air max 180

The popular Japanese fashion brand Comme des Garçons (CDG) is no stranger to collaborating with footwear brands. You may have seen their Converse pack or their twist on the Nike Vapormax.

Nike’s Air Max Day was filled with awesome sneakers which included bringing back certain silhouettes such as the Air Max 93 and Air Max 180. Originally debuted on the runway, CDG created a lot of buzz over these three colourways and now these sneakers are finally available.

The only thing I don’t like about the shoes is that the branding is only found on the sole, and of course the price is almost double the amount for a regular 180. Nevertheless, the laser pink is different and to me these have to be the best colourways of the silhouette. The black/pink colourway  seems to be the most popular version, as Liam Payne recently purchased them on the latest edition of Complex’s Sneaker Shopping.

You can purchase them for less than he did at SSENSE.
